<b>Definition.</b><br/>regions are areas which are distinguished for specific purposes.<br/><br/><b>Remarks.</b><br/>Reasons to distinguish regions can be climatic, soil characteristics, hydrology, jurisdiction and many others.<br/><br/>Regions are often distinguished within countries, but can cover (parts of) different countries.<br/>Example of the first are provinces, counties, etc.<br/>Example of the second are Euregio's, the zones used in Europe for legislation of crop protection products and for example humid tropics.<br/>
